Gail Picard
Avid quilter Gail Picard will show you how to create a super-easy, fun, quilted tote bag — the perfect carry-all! Use it for your crafts, going to the beach, shopping, or as a great purse. The finished size is approximately 16″H x 11″W x11″D, but you can adjust this pattern to create bags of different sizes.
Materials:
Fabric Requirements (pre-washing is optional):
- 4 fat quarters (18″ x 22″)
- 2/3 yd lining (for 8.5″ blocks)
- 2/3 yd medium weight interface (Warm & Natural will work but is a bit heavy)
- fabric of your choice for straps (2.5″ by 25″ is a good finished length–you need two pieces); there is enough lining fabric if you want to use that
- closure (snap, magnet or velcro) — if you want it
Tool Requirements:
- Sewing machine (can reserve a CQ machine)
- 1/4″ foot (walking or even-feed foot is optional)
- Rotary cutter, mat, ruler (can share CQ rotary equip)
- Coordinating thread
- Basic sewing aids such as pins, seam ripper, etc. (can share CQ equip)
Before Class:
- Precut four squares from each fat quarter — squares may be anywhere from 5″ for a purse to 8.5″ for a tote
- DO NOT precut lining or fleece
