August 5-15, 2010

While the cat’s away, the mice will PLAY! (aka: Jensi is going on vacation!)

SALE on fabric, books, notions… you name it!

As most of you know, whenever I step out of the CQ studio, the Elizabeth (one of our wonderful members) jokes that suddenly everything is 80% off!  (At least I hope she’s joking!)

Well, I am finally taking a vacation to celebrate my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary with my family in Florida.  Elizabeth warned me that they were going to sell off everything while I was gone!  (Gulp!)  I figured that I might as well help out…  :)

We will have everything on sale!  (No, not everything will be 80% off, but there will be some amazing deals…) Read more >

Paste PaperAugust 28 (Saturday), 10 am - 3 pm

Carol Entin

Creating pastepapers is akin to sophisticated finger painting for grownups.  Carol will show you various techniques to make absolutely gorgeous colorwashes and elegant designs on quality paper.  Come and rediscover your inner kindergartener!  Every piece of paper is attractive, no matter what you do!

To create our pastepapers, we will use a cooked paste to which acrylic paints are added.  The thick colored paste is brushed onto wet paper and textured using anything for a tool - hands, spatulas, banana peels, combs, sponges, sneaker tread - anything goes!  We will also use Carol’s collection of textured rollers specifically designed to create beautiful repeating patterns.Red-orange leaf design pastepaper Read more >

Pastepaper Journal ExteriorAugust 29 (Sunday); 10am-3pm

Carol Entin

Skill level:  Complete novice to advanced crafters — all are welcome!

A blank book or photo album hand-covered by you with a unique, decorative paper makes a wonderful gift for someone else or a special book for yourself.  Learn how to prepare the book surface, use special bookbinding tools (like a bone folder) and templates, and cut up and apply pastepaper on both the outside and inside covers.  You will also learn how to apply glue, avoid air bubbles, and make tidy, attractive corners for a truly professional look.  Any time that remains can be devoted to making gorgeous notecards with your scraps!
Pastepaper Photo Album Interior Cover
You can choose to cover an 80-page, blank, wirebound fine paper sketchbook/journal, 7″ X 10″ or a 10″ X 10″ wirebound photo album with 20 blank, black pages.   Both are Canson products made with high quality bookboard and archival papers. Read more >
