Starting in September, use your scraps and those available at CQ to create one of the most popular quilt patterns ever, the log cabin. Ann Cummings will show you how to chain-piece multiple blocks at a time. You will be surprised at how many you can make in one sitting. Before you know it, you will have enough blocks for whatever size quilt you want to make! With so many fabulous layouts you will never get tired of making log cabin blocks. Skill Level: Confident beginners on up — you only have to know how to use your sewing machine and sew in a straight line.
Come learn Ann’s easy way to add the finishing touch to your quilt. The binding is the final frame and just as important as the rest of your quilt… Ann’s stress-free binding techniques result in straight binding with gorgeous mitered corners. You can even make scrappy bindings with different fabrics!
Learn how to choose the fabric, miter the corners, and make the beginning & ending blend together. Finish either with decorative stitching or by hand sewing.

Experienced knitter and volunteer instructor Gail Picard has devised a new charitable program to teach you a whole bunch of new stitches as well as donate knitted afghans to Neighbors Helping Newborns! Whether you are a beginner or experienced knitter, we invite you to spend every other Sunday with us creating various patches that will be sewn together to make adorable newborn knitted blankets.

You will cover the major parts and functions of the machine, learn the basics of threading, explore rolled hems, do elastic insertion, create gorgeous decorative finishes, and more! You will no longer dread using your serger — you may even love it so much you might start looking for serging projects!

Skill Level: Complete novice through experienced sewers! Everyone is welcome.
Do you enjoy hand sewing? Have you admired antique and modern appliqué quilts but were afraid to try? Or are you an experienced appliquer who wants to spend time sewing with kindred spirits? Come to CQ’s new monthly hand appliqué club.
During the first hour Sandy will give a Block of the Month class using Ellie Sienkiewicz’s book Baltimore Elegance. The blocks will finish to 8″ squares. The classes will cover different methods for transferring patterns to your project, cut-away appliqué, curves, points and circles, needle turn appliqué with an invisible stitch and different embellishment techniques.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent stitching. Sandy is available for questions and help all afternoon.
You are not restricted to the class projects, bring any project you want and spend a pleasant afternoon in good company and pick up or share tips and techniques. You can join us anytime! Read more >
