Being able to use the longarm quilting machine at Crafters Quarters is like a dream come true. I have always sent my quilts out to be quilted, since there is no way I can afford my own longarm machine. The Prodigy machine at Crafters Quarters is amazing, and after taking the introductory class last weekend, I am so excited to learn more and to start quilting my own quilt tops. Before taking the class, I had been in a creative slump for almost a year, and hadn’t started any new projects. Now I have so many ideas in my head! Thank you!

As a complete novice to the world of quilting, I was a bit intimidated about learning to operate the long arm quilting machine. The instructor at Crafters Quarters gave me a basic understanding of quilting along with in-depth knowledge of the machine, and I can honestly say I cannot wait to get back behind the controls again to help out with my wife’s next quilting project. There was no stress, just fun in being able to explore my creative side on that incredible machine. Given the level of instruction available, I’d like to try my hand at some of the other crafting machines and see what else I can accomplish in a world of crafts previously unknown to me.

I had no idea what to expect from the Josef Albers Color Class. But I took a chance figuring Jensi wouldn’t steer me wrong. I was introduced to concepts about color that took me out of the standard Color Wheel Theory. I learned to be more observant about the specific relationship between the colors in any one project. With ongoing personal experimentation, I can sense ways to cause movement and illusions that I didn’t know before. Also, the collaborative atmosphere in the Crafters Quarters studio, as we did the samples, added to the learning in a way that studying a book would not. It was relaxed and we laughed a lot. Thanks for a memorable and useful experience.

Crafters Quarters is a great place both to take classes and to work independently. After taking Carol Grotrian’s Snapshot class and getting a good start on interpreting my photo in fabric, I returned for a day to continue the process. I finished assembling the piece and am so pleased with the results. I could never have accomplished that much at home in a day, with cats jumping up on the table to investigate and all the other distractions that are inevitable at home. At CQ, there’s lots of room to spread out, great light, and irons at the ready - in short everything you need to make progress on your project. I didn’t need to use any of the marvelous equipment - sewing machines, computers, etc. - but it’s all there if you do.
