June 3 (Sunday); 12:30 - 5:30 pm
Instructor: Terri Gelinas
Terri will show you how to use 4 fat quarters to make 4 beautiful placemats! Use holiday fabrics to make wonderful hostess gifts for all your upcoming family gatherings:
June 9 (Saturday); 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Instructor: Stephanye Schuyler
(Note: this workshop can be taken alone, or as Session 2 with Point, Click, Quilt)
Stephanye Schuyler’s fabric collage quilts have been accepted into the Houston show this year! In this 2-part series, Stephanye will show you the techniques she used to create her uniquely beautiful works of art. Students will explore a path to their creativity through the development of a small fabric collage quilt (approximately 8″ x 10″). This is a two-session class, but students can opt to take either one of the sessions if they wish.
Session 2 will focus on fabric collage construction using fusible applique techniques. Students from the first session will use the templates they created in the first session to construct their quilts from their own photographs. For those who are interested in using a kit, they can purchase a pattern of Oriental Lily, designed by the instructor (see photo or, even better, come see the piece in person at CQ). Students with basic applique skills will fare well in this class. By the end of the class, students will have a small quilt ready for machine raw edge applique, quilting and embellishment! Help local children with life-changing illnesses and injuries… ConKerrCancer brightens the hospital rooms and outlooks of local hospitalized boys and girls by providing fun, colorful pillowcases.
You can help! Come to CQ for a social, fun day of cutting and sewing these bright pillowcases. Drop by for as long as you’re available! No RSVP necessary.
Very little experience is required to help with this event. Well-behaved, older, supervised, responsible children are also invited, so bring your kids to teach them more about charitable giving and community service.
