Got a project you need to finish but have been putting it off? This evening is the perfect opportunity to make some progress. If, instead, you would like to learn how to create log cabin blocks, Ann will show you how to chain-piece multiple blocks at a time. You will be surprised at how many you can make in a single sitting. Before you know it, you will have enough blocks for whatever size quilt you want to make! There are so many fabulous layouts you will never get tired of making these blocks. Ann will also share tips on how to make two-color and controlled-scrappy log cabin quilts. Read more >

Nancy will show you how to use hardware-store measuring tape to make the cutest bag in just one weekend! This adorable tote uses a metal carpenters tape as a closure that snaps shut by itself! Once you try this new technique you can be incorporate it into many style bags, such as iPad and ereader covers, wallets, and cosmetic bags. For class you may choose either a 10″ purse or 16″ tote. Learn how to use AccuQuilt to cut the fabrics for this project… you’ll cut the pieces for this large throw-sized quilt in less than an hour by simply turning a handle! Gail will show you how to put together a simple 5-fabric pattern to create an unexpected quilt top. The top will measure approximately 48″ x 60″ before borders are added.

Easy, clever construction results in a unique bag with three handy compartments inside and an attractive crossover design outside. In addition to the traditional pattern directions, you may choose to create an inside pocket for your cell phone and/or a zippered pocket on the back. This bag can be made from two complimentary fabrics or double-faced quilted fabric. Read more >

Learn a simple “quilt as you go” method while completing a beautiful table runner. (Since this table runner has arrived at CQ, it has attracted more attention than our other quilts! The picture does not do it justice.) The “quilt as you go” method can be used to make quilted vests, jackets, potholders, and many other quilted items. You will also be introduced to a simple way to make the pinwheel block used as the centerpiece of this table runner. We will also use the prairie braid and learn to bind the runner - the entire piece will be finished by the end of the three sessions! This is a great class for beginner quilters or those wishing to learn a new technique. Read more >

Spend a day learning how to nuno felt a distinctive, lightweight, and beautiful scarf! Nuno is a technique of felting merino wool onto silk fabric. Discover the magic and endless possibilities of color, texture, and design in felting.
Various non-felting items such as ribbon and silk can also be added as embellishment to form a gorgeous collage effect.
Conni Crist will use a unique method of nuno felting that minimizes any strain on your wrists and hands by using a clothes dryer. In this workshop Conni will introduce both methods - the traditional techniques and her mechanized version!
